Mermaids/Mermen
-
- sea-dwelling humanoids with fish-like tails
830-OBlu
After Vypra had,
according to her plan, freed Marina
from chains where the waves had been smashing her on a rocky shore, Loki was surprised Vypra had
actually found her.
Marina's
apparent home was an air-filled sea cave decorated with shells and
candles.
834-NepD
King Neptune,
an old merman with a magical trident, ruled from a sunken
galleon; he and Marina were the only
merpeople shown.
Neptune told
his daughter he was getting too old to rule his kingdom, having decided
she would take his place; he would tell her "they" needed her,
presumably referring to other unseen merpeople.
Diabolico's scroll
map of Mariner Bay showed Neptune's sunken ship in the bay, along
with his glowing trident.
When King
Neptune discovered his trident missing, Marina was contacted at the surface with
an urgent dolphin-like whistle which may or may not have been produced
by Neptune himself.
When Marina
needed to go on land, Neptune
reminded her she could only survive a short time out of sea water, and
she would soon emerge from the sea with human legs and an orange skirt.
As Marina ran
through the woods with Chad, she was suddenly
pained and weakened.
Lying weakened on the ground, Marina explained that mermaids could
only stay out of water a short time; she would eventually fall
unconscious.
In the pool in the Aquabase's weapons lab, Marina floated unconscious, stretched
out with her mermaid tail restored, as Chad
delicately poured water over her from his cupped hand.
Watching, Miss
Fairweather explained there was no data available on Marina's species, and she didn't know
how to help her.

Rumors from the production of 500-TPRM indicated an omitted scene featuring a mermaid rescue, reportedly by Adam, at some point during or following the voyage to Muiranthias.

Marina
-
- mermaid daughter of King Neptune;romantic interest of Chad Lee
830-OBlu
At nighttime at a rocky shore, Marina the mermaid
had her hands shackled to a stake above.
Marina had a flower in her hair and had an orange
swimsuit top and mermaid tail.
Above, Vypra called out,
and Marina begged her for help, at which point Vypra cut the chains and freed her.
Resurfacing, Marina thanked her so much, whoever
she was, and Vypra smiled and waved; secretly
nearby, Loki was surprised Vypra had actually found her.
As three rowdy guys on a pier tossed trash into
the ocean, Marina underneath tried to collect the trash, but there was
too much.
On a surfboard floating nearby, Chad scolded the guys, but when they laughed and
threw more trash in, Chad knocked them off the
pier with an inhumanly strong spinning heel kick.
Nearby, Marina giggled, and Chad, seeing her, greeted her and told her his name,
but she was shy in return.
When Kelsey called out
to Chad from shore that they had to go, Marina
was gone.
Marina watched sadly as Chad and Kelsey drove away
in the Rescue Rover, and she then swam
down.
Marina later watched happily as Chad swam in scuba gear near the Aquabase.
When another rockslide occurred after Chad had fixed a ground cable, Marina swam urgently
to the buried Chad, and his unconscious body
would soon surface in the Aquabase's pool.
When Chad was later awake
in the infirmary, he seemed to sense something and pulled the curtains
open, finding Marina swimming outside.
Chad slowly put his hand
to the glass, and she smiled and matched her hand to his; after a
lingering moment, she happily swam off.
Emerging in a sea cave where there were shells
and candles for decoration, Marina surfaced with either a gasp or a
happy sigh.
Sitting nearby, Vypra
greeted her, and Marina was pleased to see her again.
Vypra listened as Marina
described meeting Chad, saying he loved the ocean
and was kind and considerate.
To help Marina win Chad's
heart, as every girl in town was likely after him, Vypra gave the mermaid an ornate shelled box
containing a tiny pewter dolphin.
When Chad returned to an
industrial dock after looking around for Marina on a jetski, she then
emerged and greeted him, and he thanked her for saving his life but
realized he didn't know her name, at which point she told him, and he
said it was nice.
Marina gave Chad the gift,
but as he opened it, the dolphin knocked him back and formed chains
around him as Vypra, Loki, and Batlings
arrived.
Vypra congratulated
Marina, but Marina insisted she'd been tricked.
When Vypra prepared to
strike a finishing blow to Chad, Marina yanked on
Vypra's foot and then swam off, but Loki and Batlings
captured her in a net.
After attaching a massive weight to her net, the
Batlings hurled her back into the water, and
she pleaded to Chad but was then pulled under,
and Chad screamed for her.
Chad soon dove underwater
with a Batling's sword to cut Marina loose;
he would then burst back up from the water in morphed form without
knowing where Marina had gone.
At sunset, Chad was
sitting alone on the pier when Marina suddenly swam up smiling, and he
was pleased she'd come back.
Marina apologized, never wanting to do anything
to hurt him, and he knew, sorry that Vypra had
used her.
Chad said he'd never let
Vypra hurt her again, and they could be
together, but Marina regretfully replied they came from different
worlds.
Chad had never met anyone
like Marina; she told him softly she'd never forget him either, and she
slowly released his hand and swam away, telling him he'd always be in
her heart.
834-NepD
At a sunken galleon, Marina swam up to the seated
King Neptune.
Having asked to see Marina, Neptune told his lovely daughter he was
getting older and too tired to rule his kingdom, having decided that she
would take his place; she was shocked, saying she wasn't ready.
Neptune knew
Marina missed the boy from the surface world, but she was needed here,
and she agreed before leaving.
Later swimming at the surface, Marina heard
urgent dolphin-like whistling, and she swam down to the ship where Neptune told her his trident had been stolen.
Marina planned to get Chad's help, insisting he was a Power Ranger, but noted she would need to go
on land, despite the risk.
As Chad later sat at the
beach alone, Marina walked out of the water with human legs and an
orange skirt.
Chad was amazed, but
Marina told him there was no time, explaining about the stolen trident.
As Marina ran through the woods with Chad, she was suddenly pained and weakened; Batlings briefly attacked, but Chad fended them off.
Lying weakened on the ground, Marina explained
that mermaids could only stay out of water a
short time, sending him after the trident.
The barely conscious Marina awoke as Vypra approached her in the woods.
After Aquafiend's destruction, Vypra arrived with Marina as a hostage, but Marina
told Chad not to give her the trident, warning him it could
destroy the world.
After rescuing her from Vypra, Chad carried the
unconscious Marina away to salt water as the others summoned the Zords to fight giant Aquafiend.
In the pool in the Aquabase's weapons lab, Marina floated
unconscious, stretched out with her mermaid tail restored, as Chad delicately poured water over her from his
cupped hand.
Marina's eyes flickered, and she looked up at Chad.
As the others arrived with the trident, Marina smiled and told Chad she'd known he'd save them, and she shut her
eyes again.
Prompted to leave by Neptune after he'd arrived to take his
trident, Marina looked into Chad's eyes and sank into the water.
On the beach at sunset, Marina walked up to the
lone Chad; he was pleased, but she could only
stay a few moments, wanting to thank him for everything he'd done.
Chad wished Marina didn't
have to go, and she knew.
Chad suddenly realized
that just because she couldn't stay on land didn't mean they couldn't
spend time together, and they ran into the water holding hands.

King Neptune
-
- ruler of mermaid population off the coast of Mariner Bay
834-NepD
At a sunken galleon, Marina swam up to the seated King
Neptune, who wore a crown, brown and white robes, and had an orange
merman tail.
Neptune held a gold trident.
Having asked to see Marina, Neptune told his lovely daughter
he was getting older and too tired to rule his kingdom, having decided
that she would take his place; she was shocked, saying she wasn't ready.
Neptune knew Marina missed the boy from the surface
world (Chad), but she was needed here, and she
agreed before leaving.
As the three demons watched King Neptune in a flaming oval, Loki was mockingly unfamiliar with the man, and Diabolico planned to have the power of
Neptune's trident.
King Neptune was later sleeping when Aquafiend swam off with his trident.
Soon, Marina
was contacted at the surface with an urgent dolphin-like whistle which
may or may not have been produced by Neptune.
Marina planned
to get Chad's help, insisting he was a Power Ranger, but noted she would need to go
on land, despite the risk.
As Marina lay
barely conscious in the Aquabase's pool
and the teens returned with the trident, the shimmering, translucent
shape of King Neptune suddenly arose from the water.
Neptune thanked Chad for
saving his world, and for watching over his daughter, and he said he'd
take over now.
Carter brought the trident, and Neptune thanked the
young man.
As Neptune touched the trident, it glowed white
and transformed into a watery form like his composition.
Prompted to leave by Neptune, Marina looked into Chad's eyes and sank into the water, Neptune
vanishing as well.
