Insulted by Divatox and
Elgar, Rita shot a red
energy blast from her wand at Divatox's back but missed; Astronema, beyond,
caught it in her hand and crinkled it up into purple electricity.
Astronema had slightly wavy, long, bright purple
hair.
At all times unless otherwise noted, Astronema
always wore a round locket around her neck; on the locket was her
symbol, later found all over her weapons
and the Dark Fortress; it consisted of a
jagged M symbol over a diamond shape. (see "Recurring letters")
After Astronema had turned and walked off with an
attitude, Divatox, surprised, asked Elgar who she was, and Elgar replied, "That's Astronema. They say she'll
be the new queen of evil," but Divatox planned otherwise.
Walking by a Cog,
Astronema sprinkled the purple energy specks from her hand
intoxicatingly in front of the Cog's face.
Later seated at the banquet table before Dark Specter appeared, Astronema and the
cloaked Andros exchanged curious glances;
Astronema was fidgeting with her locket at the time.
Toasting to Dark
Specter, Astronema drank a glass of lava juice along with the other
villains.
When Divatox was
insulted that the cloaked stranger hadn't drunk any lava juice during
their toast to Dark Specter after his
revelation that he was draining Zordon's
powers, Machina asked the stranger who he was,
at which point Astronema stood and dramatically announced that he was a
spy.
As Red
Ranger leapt onto his Galaxy Glider
and flew off, Astronema merely watched in silence as the wind from the
Galaxy Glider blew her hair back.
Dark Specter
growled that the spy knew his plans and had to be stopped, and after Divatox and Rita had
bickered over which of them should go after him, Dark Specter silenced them and told Astronema
that she would take the Dark
Fortress to destroy the meddler; his emphasis of his selection of
her implied that whoever he had chosen would have taken the Dark Fortress.
After looking at Divatox and Rita,
Astronema vanished with her standard teleportation consisting of purple
light with ripples in it; the Quantrons then
teleported away as well.
When the Megaship
began to fall into the atmosphere of a planet
nearby due to the shutdown of its engines, Astronema, in the Dark Fortress, had whoever was in control of
the sphinx ship, perhaps Ecliptor, hold his fire, amusedly remarking that
that had been too easy.
After being told Astronema's ship (presumably the
sphinx ship) had landed, Andros knew from DECA's
announcement of Astronema's forces disembarking that this meant Quantrons.
Some time later, the four teens walked toward the shuttle after the Megaship had left, and they were then
attacked by more Quantrons.
Once the Quantrons
had restrained the teens, spark explosions in
front of the four captives signaled Astronema's arrival on the surface
of the planet; inspecting them while not
wearing her later-introduced battle gear, Astronema fidgeted with her
locket.
Astronema remarked, "So, this is what Power Rangers look like after they lose their
powers. Mm, a sorry sight."; she then seemed surprised when T.J. didn't know who she was.
Astronema asked where the Red Ranger had gone, and when Cassie refused to tell her, Astronema walked away
and casually told a Quantron to destroy
them, having no use for them.
When a massive hole opened up in the sky above,
Astronema cheerfully left, and powerful blue
blasts of energy then shot at the Megaship from above as it swooped down over
the teens and Quantrons from the hole in the sky.
After the Quantrons
had retreated from the five Space
Rangers, Andros knew this wasn't over, as
he knew Astronema and said she wouldn't give up that easily; just then,
two Velocifighters flew over them,
lasers flying.
When the Megaship, fired on by the sphinx ship, soon opened and
released the Megashuttle, Astronema
watched curiously on her viewscreen.
As soon as the Astro
Megazord had been successfully formed, Astronema remarked with
sarcasm, "That was impressive."
When the Megaship
headed for Earth some time after the sphinx ship had been
destroyed, Astronema ordered for them to follow the Megaship, laughing that they'd destroy the
whole planet if they had to.
The same night as the Megaship entered Earth orbit, the Dark
Fortress appeared elsewhere in orbit, where it would spend a great
deal of its time.
When the Megashuttle soon flew from the Megaship to Earth,
Astronema had been bored, propping herself on a control stand with her
arm while watching the viewscreen; seeing the shuttle flying away, she got up and
amusedly remarked that the Rangers were
making a big mistake taking the shuttle to Earth.
In the
aforementioned scene, Astronema wasn't wearing her locket, a definite
rarity for her.
Elgar suddenly walked in,
and when Astronema demanded to know what he was doing there, he replied,
anything she wished, calling her his queen.
Astronema told the Quantrons to throw him off her Dark Fortress, but when Elgar said Dark
Specter had said she needed him, she stopped them and growled in
consternation with a smile on her face.
When the teens were
later purchasing the last of their needed equipment at Angel Grove Electronics in town, they were
attacked outside by Quantrons.
Soon after the teens had
morphed and ordered for the shuttle to be prepared for launch and NASADA evacuated, three Quantrons appeared near a guard booth for some
reason.
Somewhere on NASADA
premises near a giant satellite dish and the shuttle launch bay, Ecliptor confronted the Rangers.
Seeing the Rangers
escaping the destruction in the shuttle, Astronema remarked that the Rangers were clever, but that she was more
clever, then had the Satellasers locked on Ecliptor to enlarge him downtown.
Late in the day, perhaps nighttime, some time
after Ecliptor's defeat by the Megazord, Astronema sat at a strategy table
in her room; her hair was now straight, black, and medium-length,
partially braided.
Behind Astronema's strategy table in her room was
a wall of numerous weapons, including an
archer's bow, a shortsword, two Wrath Staves (the type of staff
she would often use later), and a curved boomerang.
Astronema mused that she had to work smarter, not
harder - beat the Rangers at their own
game; to that end, as she stroked a live turtle on a podium nearby, she
had Elgar lock the Satellasers on the New York City
sewers, impressing Elgar.
Purple energy bolts from Astronema's staff flowed into the Turtles' eyes, putting them under her spell.
The next day, Astronema sent Electrotramp, a monster with the black body of a Varox and the head of a robot police officer
monster, to Angel Grove, where he began to
drain the city's power from the power plant.
As the Rangers
were being overwhelmed by the supercharged Electrotramp, the Ninja Turtles flew to the scene as green energy
streaks just in time to deflect one of Electrotramp's energy spheres,
then materialized in front of the Rangers.
After destroying the surprised monster, the Turtles had the Rangers take them aboard the Megaship and give them a tour, and soon
afterward, they took control of the ship, lowering its defenses to allow
Astronema, Quantrons, and Elgar to teleport in.
Arriving on the bridge, Astronema had her staff and wore new battle gear,
featuring a gray piece of angular chest armor and her curved boomerang
on her right hip; as usual, she still wore her locket.
Astronema was dreamily impressed with how clean
everything was.
Daintily pushing Elgar
aside, Astronema sat in a center seat on the
bridge and had DECA set a course for the Tianta galaxy and switched
all authority to herself.
Soon, with the Turtles and
Elgar operating the Megaship's bridge, Dark
Specter spoke from the bridge's
viewscreen asking Astronema what she had to report; when she told him
she'd captured all the Rangers and was
bringing him their ship, which would transform into the mighty Astro Megazord for him to destroy the Rangers with, Dark
Specter was pleased with how poetic he found the idea.
Leonardo pointed out they
only had four Rangers before Astronema
could silence him, and Dark Specter told
her to bring the Rangers to her
immediately.
With all the teens but
Andros captured, Astronema told the Turtles to find the Red Ranger, or she'd throw them
all into the nearest black hole.
Astronema was bored in a seat when an alarm rang
and a monitor showed the teens fighting the Quantrons in the engine room; the Turtles rushed off to stop them, but the teens made it to the jump tubes and flew off in the Megashuttle.
When DECA warned that the
glowing cloud ahead was a reverse-polarized magnetic field, Astronema
panicked and had Don try to veer away, but the
field ended up removing the spell from the Turtles' minds.
Initially worried, Astronema continued with her
orders, telling Donatello to use the sensors to
locate the shuttle and Venus to change their course, but the Turtles were no longer under her control.
Retreating, Astronema told DECA to self-destruct the Megaship, then vanished with her minions as Don and Mike lunged.
During the Rangers' fight with the Quantrons, Astronema threw her boomerang,
slashing Quantrons and Rangers alike before it returned to her
hand.
Once the Turtles arrived
and teamed up with the Rangers against
the Quantrons, Astronema shoved a stumbling
Quantron back into battle with annoyance.
After the Rangers
and Turtles had made a huge pile of defeated Quantrons, Astronema told them that none of
them had seen the last of her, then vanished.
Alone on the Megashipbridge, Andros
looked around, then pulled out a round locket, of the same shape and
size of Astronema's, and from which came a tiny reflective disc which he
inserted into a player on the controls in front of him; it then played a
video of the kidnapping of his sister Karone,
secretly Astronema's childhood identity.
While Astronema slept on the red bed in her
quarters, Ecliptor watched and laughed
sinisterly to himself, "Sweet dreams," before going to KO-35 to ambush Andros on
his search for Karone.
Chuckling with Elgar
sleeping upright nearby, Ecliptor used the
control panel in the main room to see Red Ranger on KO-35 calling for Karone;
Ecliptor remarked, "So, you returned to your
home planet. Sorry we had to destroy it!"
Flying a Velocifighter, Elgar shot down a NASADA
satellite he'd been looking for, making it crash onto the planet Kalderon; Astronema had him go after the
satellite to make sure it was destroyed because of the information it
had gathered.
Astronema now had long, curly, light blonde hair.
When Elgar was goofing
off on Kalderon, Astronema shouted in
a rumbling voice to him from the Dark
Fortress, asking how he expected to find it while sitting around.
Astronema sent Velocifighters to attack the approaching
Megaship while the search for the
satellite continued.
Nearby, Astronema threatened to feed Elgar to Clawhammer if he didn't find the
satellite before the Rangers.
As the teens prepared to
leave with the data discs, Astronema (with her battle gear and staff), Quantrons, and Elgar
confronted them, with Andros staring them down
before having them morph; this was
the first time Astronema was shown seeing unmorphed Andros, whose hair looked just like her brother's
in her picture of him in her locket (shown in 626-SOLk).
When Cassie grappled
Astronema from behind, knocking her locket off, Astronema was shocked to
have lost it, then kicked Pink
Ranger aside and remarked as she picked up the locket, "Nobody
touches this!"; she then held it in her hand and looked around
cautiously.
Quite angry with the Rangers, Astronema shot purple energy bolts
from her staff, knocking four
of the Rangers down and allowing Quantrons to capture them; when Red Ranger ran up, she knocked him
out as well.
Astronema took the discs from Red Ranger's hand and had Elgar guard them with his life.
Astronema had Elgar tie
up the Rangers; soon, the Rangers were chained together lying down in
a circle on the ground, with Astronema intending to let Clawhammer, a giant monster on
the planet, eat the Rangers rather than
personally destroying them now.
Impressed, Elgar remarked
that her plan was "ultra-evil," and she amusedly remarked that she'd
outdone herself.
When Astronema realized back on the Dark Fortress after Clawhammer's destruction that Elgar had lost the discs, she grabbed Elgar and told him it was time to play with
Scrudley; Quantrons covered their eyes as a
screaming Elgar was locked into a cell nearby
with a monster with two glowing red eyes.
Another day, Voltage Hog was on the Dark Fortress, addressing Astronema as the
"dark princess of space" and telling her his
name.
Astronema told Voltage Hog to go hog some
voltage and then destroy the Rangers once
he was fully-charged.
As Andros engaged in a
second battle with Voltage
Hog, Ecliptor attacked him, planning to
finish Red Ranger once and for
all this time, and soon, he said, Astronema would rule the Earth.
Some time after Voltage Hog's destruction,
Astronema watched Bulk, Skull, and Professor
Phenomenus on her viewscreen as the Professor examined a vial of explosive
plutonium fuel of his own design.
Astronema noted that Voltage Hog had been a disaster
but that she liked the Professor's
"kaboom."
As the Professor told a crowd of reporters and onlookers in front of the skyscraper
containing his laboratory, Astronema was in the crowd hiding her face
behind a black coat, but her bright, big, decorated blonde hair was
quite visible.
After a reporter had
asked the Professor planned to protect the
fuel from those who would use it for evil purposes, Astronema daydreamed
about the city being engulfed in an atomic
fireball.
Later, the Elephantitan monster began
headbutting the base of the skyscraper in an attempt to knock it over
and destroy the city; Astronema, with her
battle gear and staff, was
laughing from a bridge nearby when the Rangers ran up.
Astronema blasted the Rangers with a purple energy bolt from her
staff and then vanished with
the Quantrons.
Later, right after the Red and YellowRangers had used the Megatank to neutralize the
plutonium, probably unbeknownst to Astronema, the Satellasers enlarged Elephantitan, and he was
finally able to push the skyscraper over.
Astronema, with her staff and battle gear, now had
long curly brown hair.
Sting
King prepared to blast Cassie, but Waspicable jumped in the way of
the blast; then, as the hail of lasers continued to buffet him, Waspicable charged toward Sting King and tackled him despite
Cassie's screams of protest.
As the villains
regrouped, Astronema watched curiously, perhaps even guiltily, as Cassie rushed to the fallen Waspicable.
Once the other Rangers had arrived, Cassie sobbed that Waspicable had saved her, then
looked angrily at a quite worried Astronema.
Storming through the Dark Fortress with Elgar following her taking notes after Sting King's destruction,
Astronema told him no more insects; as she had an alarm sounded, making
Quantrons scramble around, Elgar repeated, "Okay, no bugs and no French
painters. Got it," a reference to the Artistmole monster used by Rita and Zedd in 308-ABWD.
Despite her order of
no more insects, Astronema would select several insect monsters in the future.
Ecliptor slowly walked
in amidst the scrambling Quantrons on the Dark Fortress, reporting to Astronema as
ordered, asking his princess how he could serve her.
Astronema told Ecliptor to prepare all the Quantrons, as she had a plan for the next time
they met the Rangers.
After calmly telling some of the Quantrons to get Zordon out of there, Astronema confronted Phantom with many more.
Mildly pleased by finding "the Phantom" alone, Astronema blasted Phantom with a purple energy bolt from her
staff, sending him flying back
into a tree, then sent the Quantrons to
finish him off.
Divatox wasn't
especially surprised to see Astronema confronting the Phantom.
The Dark Fortress
was in its warp, near Hercuron, when
Elgar called Astronema on a warbling phone
device brought to her by a Quantron when the
Megaship was approaching.
When Elgar told her they
had company, Astronema assumed it was the Rangers.
Divatox was in the
middle of chewing out Astronema, who was irritated and deep in thought,
when Dark Specter's head appeared in the
sky and silenced her; he then told Astronema to attack the Earth, knowing the Rangers would go to protect it.
Divatox tried to mock
Astronema's affirmative reply but then stopped confrontationally when
Astronema looked at her; Astronema then walked off and teleported away.
Crocovile was an especially tough
monster with the ability to split apart into two similar forms after the
Megazord's saber finishing move.
Later, after Andros's
retrieval of the Delta Megazord and the
destruction of the Crocovile
monsters, Astronema, in her battle gear, was on a red-skied desert planet as giant Dark
Specter stood in the distance, speaking with her.
Unless Astronema had some sort of magical
protection from the elements, the atmosphere of this planet had to have perfect temperature, pressure,
and composition for unprotected humans.
Dark Specter told
Astronema that that had been too close a call and that it was fortunate
for her that Zordon was safely hidden away.
Astronema confidently told Dark Specter that she had a new plan to
destroy the Power Rangers once and for
all, and he replied that she had best not fail him again, or he would
crush the Dark Fortress as she slept;
this shocked and hurt Astronema, making her think desperately to
herself.
While Professor
Phenomenus, Bulk, and Skull struggled in their RV with a toy they'd
turned evil, Ecliptor took the Professor's invention and walked off with it,
laughing that he'd been looking for one of these.
Seeing the stolen invention on the Dark Fortress, Astronema remarked, "An Evilyzer," and was pleased, thinking they would
need more weapons now that the Rangers
had that Delta Megazord.
Ecliptor, having seen
it work, hoped to use it to turn the Rangers evil; Astronema told him to test it
on the Rangers but that she had an even
bigger plan.
Once the Rangers
had arrived to confront Destructipede, Astronema had
the larger Evilyzer cannon prepared to fire
out a window of the Dark Fortress, but
she wouldn't let Elgar fire yet, as she had a
plan.
Astronema conversed with Destructipede from afar to
tell him to get the Rangers' attention.
The Evilyzer finally
shorted out, but Andros then declared that they
were out of energy, and Astronema, listening from the Dark Fortress, concluded that she'd beaten
them.
Another day, Mamamite told Astronema that
millions of her eggs had been buried beneath the streets of Angel Grove, and that they would hatch and
destroy the city very soon; initially
pleased, Astronema was extremely impatient, wanting them to hatch now,
and Mamamite left to see what
she could do.
As Astronema was soon pacing in her quarters, Ecliptor brought her the bad news that the Rangers had destroyed Mamamite; slightly concerned,
Astronema asked if the eggs had hatched.
Told that the eggs had not hatched and that they
would have to wait, Astronema complained, "I hate to wait!" but she was
then pleased by the thought of Angel Grove
being their first meal when they did hatch.
Later, being informed by Ecliptor that the termites had hatched and had eaten
the Rangers' weapons, she was pleased and ordered for the
Rangers themselves to be destroyed.
When Ecliptor returned
from an ambush foiled by Darkonda's
appearance, Astronema had messier, less curly, braided, pale purple
hair.
Astronema wasn't
wearing her locket at the time, coincidentally leaving her without it
when she would soon encounter Darkonda for
the first time.
Seeing Ecliptor
furious, Astronema asked, "Well, what happened?" presuming that
something drastic had gone wrong in order for his nerves to get rattled.
Ecliptor reassured
Astronema he would finish the job and wouldn't fail her, but Darkonda then entered, saying he'd failed her
already.
Astronema menacingly asked Darkonda who he was and how he'd gotten aboard
her ship; he replied, "I am Darkonda, bounty
hunter. Evil is my business."
Kissing Astronema's hand, Darkonda told her they'd met once long ago; she
pulled her hand away and curiously repeated his name but then regained
her hostility, telling him she didn't remember him.
Ecliptor told
Astronema that Darkonda was a traitor, a
doublecrossing cheat, and she observed that he seemed to know a lot
about Darkonda.
Darkonda told
Astronema she was wise to distrust strangers but that one Power Ranger was already down, thanks to
him, and he would soon deliver the rest to her; Astronema was startled
after he'd left, and Ecliptor admitted that
Darkonda had released a Barillian Bug during the fight
which had stung the Black
Ranger.
Awed, Astronema remarked that the use of the Barillian Bug was brilliant,
causing Ecliptor to growl to himself.
When the Megaship
later streaked away and Ecliptor attempted to
track them, Darkonda, casually standing at
the edge of the control room, said the Rangers had gone after the antidote to the
Barillian sting; Ecliptor insisted there was no antidote, but Darkonda laughed that there was.
Tracing her finger along Darkonda's body, Astronema, still not wearing
her locket, asked where this antidote was; Darkonda pointed out he thought he was unwanted,
with which Ecliptor heartily agreed, but
Astronema angrily repeated her question.
Darkonda told her the
antidote was on KO-35, and that she should be
waiting there for the Rangers; she said
it was a fine plan and had him go to ambush them.
After the destruction of Darkonda's Barillian Bug monster on KO-35, Astronema was finally wearing her locket
again, and she would be wearing it when Darkonda soon entered.
Astronema was concerned by the monster's defeat,
and Ecliptor gladly offered to get rid of the
worthless Darkonda at once; when Darkonda entered, Ecliptor declared that he'd failed and wasn't as
valuable as he claimed to be.
Darkonda argued that
he'd succeeded, as they'd won the knowledge that the Red Ranger was the only true Space Ranger; separate him from the others,
and they'd fall apart.
Astronema was sleeping on her bed in her
quarters, in full uniform but with a black silk sheet, when Darkonda came in, startling her.
Despite his saying he was at her service, calling
her the Princess of Darkness, Astronema angrily aimed her staff at Darkonda, ordering him never to sneak up on her
again.
Agreeing and apologizing, Darkonda considered speaking with Ecliptor instead but then, after asking to speak
openly, said Ecliptor was a mighty warrior
worthy of great admiration but that intelligence wasn't his strong
point.
Astronema countered that Ecliptor had been her trusted protector since
she was a child and that she should destroy Darkonda for his comments.
Astronema assigned Ecliptor and Darkonda
to both bring her back the scanner.
On Brokaya as they approached the scanner, Darkonda wondered what Astronema would think if
he told her the truth about Ecliptor; Ecliptor told him not to, as it would only hurt
her.
Looking at the three frozen Rangers in a cave (with Red and Blue absent), Darkliptor laughed that he only needed two more
to make his collection complete.
When Astronema entered with Quantrons and wearing her battle gear, seeing
the three frozen Rangers, she angrily
asked, "What have you DONE?!"
Awed to see Darkliptor's unusual form, Astronema asked what
he was; he told her that Ecliptor had
attacked him when he'd turned his back, an accusation which startled
Astronema.
Darkliptor told
Astronema that, to prevent the Rangers
from destroying them both, he'd captured Ecliptor, but he reassured her that Ecliptor was safe and tapped his chest, saying,
"in here."
Calling him a curious beast, Astronema wasn't
sure whether to call him Darkonda or Ecliptor, but she then snapped out of it and was
pleased with his capturing of three Rangers, saying he was worth keeping, for
now.
Astronema ordered for the Rangers to be destroyed and was shocked when
Darkliptor protested; he then explained that
he would need them as bait, but he assured her that darkness would soon
fall on all the Rangers.
Astronema was later watching on the viewscreen as
Darkliptor fought Red Ranger, then Blue Ranger as well, and she was
shocked when they managed to shatter him back apart into Darkonda and Ecliptor.
Getting up while Ecliptor lay on the ground, Darkonda asked how this could be, as he was
invincible; he then, with Astronema still watching, angrily dragged Ecliptor up, saying, "Get up, you weakling! I'm
not through with you yet!" and Astronema then fired the Satellasers.
When the Astro
Delta Megazord's Flying Power Punches flew toward him, Darkliptor split apart, and Darkonda held Ecliptor in front of him to take the fall for
him; Astronema had apparently not been watching the fight at this point.
Later, on the Dark
Fortress, Darkonda told Ecliptor to go ahead and tell Astronema that he'd attacked Ecliptor, but first he had a few stories of his
own to tell her which would make her throw them both into the nearest
black hole.
As Ecliptor
threatened, "Not if I destroy you here and now!", Astronema happened to walk in at the moment,
coming to the conclusion that despite her initial doubts, Ecliptor had indeed attacked Darkonda.
When Ecliptor began to
interject, Astronema ordered him to listen
to her, that he would not attack Darkonda;
from now on, she said, Darkonda was his
equal, making Darkonda laugh and Ecliptor stew.
As Astronema and Ecliptor entered the main room of the Dark Fortress after Darkonda had been mutated and enlarged by a
strength potion secretly poisoned by Ecliptor, Elgar was at
the controls grumbling that the ship had the worst video games ever,
until Astronema shoved him aside and was startled to see giant Darkonda on a rampage in Angel Grove.
As Astronema was
outraged, Ecliptor said, "I told you that he
could not be trusted."
Astronema then angrily told Skygantor she wanted answers, and
after shoving the Quantrons' blades out of
his face, he replied that he hadn't seen anything.
Astronema shot from her left hand or wrist device
an orange beam which generated an orange energy lasso around Skygantor, forcing him to his
knees.
Startled, releasing her energy grip, Astronema
repeated, "The Rangers have Zordon's keycards?"; she then told Ecliptor with determination to get her battle
gear and follow her.
The villains left
the weakened Skygantor in the
main room as they stormed out.
As the Rangers
found themselves in a hangar inside the secret moonbase on Ganymede
after the Delta Megaship had landed inside
the base, Astronema (with gear) and Ecliptor
appeared with Quantrons to block their path
to a set of doors ahead.
During the fight, Andros
opened the doors, and the Rangers began
running through; when Pink
Ranger was the last one heading for the doors, Astronema threw her
boomerang, knocking Cassie down and the cards
from her hand, but Cassie grabbed them again
and leapt through the closing doors just in time to seal the villains out.
Elgar was excited about
the thrashing Darkonda had given the Rangers; Ecliptor
was glad he had been destroyed, but Elgar
doubted it, rambling about how bad and powerful Darkonda was.
After Ecliptor had
silenced Elgar, Astronema pointed out, "He's
right, though," and said the Rangers were
down for the count thanks to Darkonda.
Astronema said now was the perfect time to attack
Earth, and Ecliptor
growled and left with her, leaving Elgar to
chuckle cockily to himself.
One night, Astronema stormed in to answer a call
from Divatox.
Astronema's hair was now straight and black,
above her shoulders, with strings and trinkets in it.
Divatox, in front of a
shiny blue curtain, was artificially sweet to Astronema, telling her
she'd lost a little pesky thing called a Storm Blaster; Astronema and Ecliptor exchanged glances.
Divatox sweetly told
Astronema to call if she happened to see Storm Blaster, and she would send an army or
two to go catch it; Astronema agreed with the same feigned kindness, but
then added with sudden ferocity that if, on the other hand, she caught
it first, then it was hers.
Outraged at the "little brat," Divatox mockingly ranted, "Oh, look at me, I'm so
cool! I'm Astronema! I'm in charge of the whole universe!" but Astronema merely waved her hand
dismissively and ended the transmission.
Storm Blaster
landed in a warehouse area, presumably in Angel
Grove, where the vehicle was chased by Quantrons; two Quantrons managed to climb into it, but the Rangers knocked them off upon arriving at
the warehouse.
Astronema (with
gear), Ecliptor, and Quantrons walked into the warehouse, and
Astronema said Storm Blaster was leaving
with her, and she had the muscle to back her up, at which point Lionizer streaked in.
The five Rangers
were captured and suspended from the ceiling in chains after Storm Blaster had escaped.
From the viewscreen on the Dark Fortress, Dark Specter told Astronema the Rangers' scan for Zordon was getting them much too close and they
must not discover his location before he'd drained his powers.
After the transmission had ended, Astronema had a
plan to get aboard the Megaship, and to
do so, she summoned the Body
Switcher from purple energy bolts from her gauntlets.
Astronema amusedly called Body Switcher a showoff after
he'd switched between various monster forms.
Astronema had him make her a Power Ranger, and he said that was an easy
one and transformed her to look just like Ashley, even wearing duplicates of the clothes and
communicatorAshley was wearing at the time, with the exception
of the necklace Andros had just given her; her
voice also matched Ashley's.
As Ashley and Cassie were walking in the park, Quantrons grabbed Ashley, covering her mouth and taking her behind a
group of bushes where Ecliptor and the
disguised Astronema were, while Cassie kept
walking and talking.
Astronema stepped out and joined Cassie; as Cassie went
back to check on the noise she'd heard, Astronema snapped her fingers,
summoning Quantrons, then positioned one to
appear as though it was attacking her; meanwhile, Ecliptor and the Quantrons vanished with the real Ashley as Cassie fought
the attacking Quantrons.
During the fight, Astronema unamusedly and
totally unenthusiastically feigned some attacks on the Quantrons, which weren't doing much but
sticking out their arms and legs.
One Quantron
inadvertantly hit Astronema in the stomach while pretend-fighting, so
she angrily shoved it, sending it flying back about fifty feet against a
tree.
The Quantrons
retreated from Cassie, and Astronema waved away
the ones around her, then suggested they get back to the Megaship.
Later on the Megaship in Ashley's Megaship uniform, Astronema went
looking for the engine room; when DECA, from a camera in the hallway, said the main engine room was located on Megadeck 6, Astronema hid behind the corner and
then, saying it wasn't polite to eavesdrop, fried out the DECA camera with a purple energy bolt from her
finger.
On Megadeck 1,
Astronema accidentally stumbled upon the workbay and was spotted by Cassie before she could leave.
Cassie asked for a hand;
with various devices at the table, Cassie was
using a gun-shaped scanner or tool on an Astro Blaster, with three other Astro Blasters in a stand nearby.
Cassie asked for an AmScanner, but Astronema didn't
know which one it was.
Behind Cassie, Astronema
was then holding her staff,
aiming it at Cassie.
In the workout room on Megadeck 4, Carlos was
benchpressing a rod when Astronema came in and asked to help, so he had
her add some weight.
Astronema turned up the weight way too much,
pinning the rod painfully to his chest, then pulled out her staff and aimed it at him.
Soon, Astronema came out of a room and was fixing
her hair when Alpha surprised her; she
pointed her finger at him and called him a "rusty little--" but he
gently grasped her finger and cheerfully told her he'd just wanted to
bring her her birthday present.
Astronema was suspicious, thinking Alpha wanted something in return, but he told
her it was just because she was his friend, startling her.
Alpha told her to open
the box; she tapped it suspiciously, then opened it and removed the
gift, a music-playing figurine couple.
Alpha wished Ashley a happy birthday and then skipped off down
the corridor, humming happily and giggling.
Astronema was mesmerized by the sweet music, and
she softly remarked to herself that no one had ever been truly nice to
her before.
Soon regaining her standard bad attitude,
Astronema frowned, remarking, "Stupid robot," and threw the gift into
the nearby Refuse chute.
Astronema had just dragged the unconscious Carlos into a storage room on Megadeck 4 when T.J. found
her in the room and asked about the others.
As Astronema tried to hurry him out, T.J. heard Carlos groaning
behind a bin, and when he went to help, Carlos
awoke and was alarmed to see Astronema aiming her staff at them behind T.J.
Astronema then entered the bridge from the Megalift; casually scanning the wall consoles,
she pretended not to know the others' whereabouts, saying they were
hanging around somewhere.
Meanwhile, the three captured teens were all conscious, hanging upside-down and
bound in another storage room.
Astronema crept up with her staff behind Andros as he worked at Ashley's station but quickly hid it when he stood
to check out the situation.
Frustrated, Astronema pointed at a monitor on the
"Computer Systems" console, and it suddenly showed giant Sting King rampaging in Angel Grove; she took Andros to the monitor and asked him what it was.
Although DECA said her
sensors detected no monster on Earth, Astronema had them rush out anyway, saying
they didn't have time to find the others.
After watching Andros
hop into his jump tube in the workbay, Astronema peered down the red tube, then
gave in and jumped down the yellow tube, holding her nose as she did so.
Morphed Andros landed
near a power plant area, and
moments afterward, morphed Astronema flew down flailing her limbs and
landed with a thud on the pavement behind Andros, without his noticing.
Getting up, Astronema groaned to herself that
being a Ranger was tough business.
As Andros observed that
everything looked peaceful, Astronema drew her Astro Blaster and prepared to shoot Andros
in the back when Ashley, disguised as Astronema, called out, "Not so fast, Astronema!"
Andros and morphed
Astronema looked at the Astronema duplicate,
then Andros looked at morphed Astronema, and
she quickly hid the Astro Blaster behind
her back.
Ashley pleadingly tried
to explain it was her, Ashley, but Astronema
attacked her and fought hand-to-hand before calling Andros over, making him snap to action.
Morphed Andros fought Ashley until she told him the Yellow Ranger was really
Astronema; when he asked Yellow what she was talking
about, she paused and then replied that it must be a trick, at which
point Andros agreed and kept fighting.
Struggling, Ashley said
she didn't want to hurt him, but Yellow Ranger shouted for him
to destroy her while he still had the chance.
Her feelings hurt, Ashley shoved Andros back
and said she could prove it was all a trick; she then mischievously
asked Yellow Ranger what Andros had gotten her for her birthday, and she
couldn't remember, but Ashley triumphantly said
it was a necklace from KO-35, proving she was Ashley despite her looking like Astronema.
Meanwhile, the two Astronemas struggled, confusing Andros; the other three Rangers ran up and were confused as well.
Andros got an idea and
called out to Ashley, "Let's rocket!"; one Astronema did her pre-morph hand gesture, but the other
fumbled with her arms, trying to copy the hand gestures.
Ashley happily joined
the Rangers, and the real Astronema
stormed off saying she wouldn't want to be a Power Ranger anyway; she then called for Body Switcher, who leapt in and
fought the Rangers while she vanished.
Returning to the Dark
Fortress, Astronema was unamused but not furious when grappled by Elgar.
After giant Body Switcher had been
destroyed, Astronema grumbled that the monster had been useless anyway.
Nearby, Elgar quietly
told a Quantron that he liked Astronema
better the other way, and she casually zapped his rear with a purple
energy bolt, making him chuckle, "Hey, but what do I know?"
After the Rangers
had trashed Darkonda's lab on Dekata 5 and
destroyed three of his Crocotox
monsters (one on Earth) with the help of the Silver Ranger, Astronema was
outraged, saying it couldn't be, as the Silver Ranger had been
destroyed on KO-35 years ago, but Ecliptor replied that the Silver Ranger was as alive as
ever.
Elgar pointed out that Darkonda was alive too and teased Astronema that
this day couldn't get much worse, prompting her to order the Quantrons to take him to play with Scrudley.
Astronema said they needed a battle plan, one
with teeth, and considered inviting Darkonda
back, but Ecliptor told her he didn't think
that was such a good idea.
With Ecliptor,
Astronema watched footage from Zhane's battle
with the red Crocotox, holding
an old-fashioned stopwatch.
Astronema now had long blonde hair with some
black strands in it, a bit like an inversion of Andros's dark hair with blond streaks.
During the footage
of morphed Zhane running and blasting, a large
"7" dramatically spiraled onto a black background between shots, but
this was the only such number.
Pleased as she stopped the stopwatch at the
thirty-second mark as Zhane involuntarily demorphed, Astronema said the Silver Ranger's powers were
extremely limited, as she'd suspected.
To take advantage of this weakness, Astronema
summoned the Praying Mantis
monster from swirling green energy.
Astronema told Praying Mantis she had an easy
assignment for him: destroying the Silver Ranger; the monster
protested that the Silver
Ranger was one of the most powerful Rangers in the universe, and Astronema agreed, but added that
this was only true for two and a half minutes.
When the monster returned to the Dark Fortress after Zhane had retreated from battle when his time limit
had expired, Praying Mantis
whimpered to the upset Astronema that although Silver Ranger's powers were
limited, he was still very strong.
After thinking, Astronema put a digital 2:30
timer strip on Praying
Mantis's left shoulder blade with a purple energy bolt from her
fingertip; she said if he could detain Silver for two and a half
minutes, the device would do the rest.
While Zhane fought Praying Mantis in the forest after arriving to help the
others, Quantrons suddenly attacked the
others to prevent them from helping Zhane.
Watching on the viewscreen after Praying Mantis's explosive
restraints had apparently destroyed Zhane,
Astronema was furious when Zhane flew in on his
silver glider, having
survived.
With a smirk, Astronema summoned from orange
energy the Destructoid
monster, which knocked Zhane off his bike.
After fighting the monster well, Zhane asked Astronema if that was all she had,
saying he'd expected more from her this time; angry, she blasted at him
with her staff repeatedly.
As Zhane flipped aside,
one of Astronema's blasts struck Destructoid, making him howl in
pain, and Zhane clapped, congratulating
Astronema.
Destructoid growled at Astronema
and attacked her and the Quantrons around
her, saying no one did that to him; meanwhile, Zhane was amused as she cowered from the monster,
and he asked how she liked it.
When Destructoid attacked Astronema,
she tried to block with her staff, but he threw her aside,
apparently knocking her out; alarmed, Zhane
leapt onto his silver glider
and snatched Astronema from the monster's clutches, flying off with her.
Astronema had
apparently been knocked out from the fall, and she was unconscious when
flown away by Zhane, but she was briefly shown
sitting up, conscious, when Zhane actually
grabbed her.
In what looked like a jungle somewhere, Astronema
was lying on the ground with something rolled up as a pillow when she
came to and looked around in surprise.
Astronema was still
wearing her battle gear, but not her boomerang.
Astronema warily watched from the bushes as a
helmetless Zhane cooked something in a pot at a
campfire.
Astronema saw her staff leaning against a tree
nearby and looked at it slightly evilly, but when Zhane turned to bring her what he'd been cooking,
she lay back down and pretended to be sleeping again.
Zhane came up to
Astronema with a steaming metal mug and a cloth he'd wet at the stream
nearby.
As Zhane touched the
cloth to her forehead, Astronema startled and sat up; she asked
incredulously what he was doing, and, concerned, he told her to try
this, as it was good for her.
Begrudgingly trusting toward him, Astronema took
a sip but then was disgusted by it; Zhane took
it back, saying he wasn't the best cook in the world, then sipped it by
the fire and decided it definitely needed more salt.
As Zhane sprinkled some
more salt from a plastic box dispenser into the pot over the fire,
Astronema sneaked up behind him with her staff aimed at him.
Astronema curiously told him, "I could destroy
you right now. You know that, don't you?" and as he stood and looked at
her and the staff, he replied,
"You could, but I don't think you will," at which point he stuck a
marshmallow on the end of her staff, telling her to try it.
Astronema looked at the marshmallow in confusion,
and Zhane took the staff to show her something; she
asked what he thought he was doing but didn't resist.
Zhane proceeded to toast
the marshmallow in the fire with the staff, and she then took the staff back and eyed him
curiously.
Zhane told Astronema it
was called "toasting marshmallows" and told her to try it; looking at
him, almost curiously amused, she delicately removed the marshmallow
and, entertained, took a nibble, looking at Zhane demurely.
As Zhane smiled and asked
if she thought it was good, she suddenly looked at him and lost her
smile, pointing her staff at
him and backing away.
Astronema sternly told him not to think she owed
him anything, as they were enemies now and forever; before vanishing,
however, she smiled softly and thanked him for saving her.
Zhane called out for
Astronema to wait, but she was gone.
Later in the day, Astronema was sitting by her
window on the Dark Fortress, having been
sitting there all day according to Elgar,
staring into space.
Entering, Ecliptor
told Astronema that although the Horror Bull had been destroyed,
he'd still obtained valuable data on the Rangers' weapons, and he asked whether she wished for
him to proceed with their plan; she was in a daze and asked what plan,
and he spoke of using the information crystal to disable the Rangers' weapons.
Astronema dreamily told him not to bother her
with that now, and Ecliptor agreed.
Zhane was lying in bed on
the Megaship, looking at a photograph of
Astronema (probably a 5"x7"); the photo showed a distrustful Astronema
in a wooded area with her battle gear, staff, and her current hairstyle;
how Zhane had obtained this photo is unknown.
Later, Astronema was lying on her bed looking at
a photo (again, probably 5"x7") of morphed Zhane
holding his helmet and smiling in front of a black background; how she'd
obtained this photo is also unknown.
When Ecliptor knocked
and came in, Astronema subtlely hid the photo under the pillow she was
lying on.
Ecliptor had brought a
tray of food, thinking Astronema might want something to eat, so he'd
brought her favorite meal.
When Astronema replied that she wasn't hungry,
not looking at him, Ecliptor asked if
something was troubling her; she evasively looked aside and said no, but
he set the tray down and told her, "Astronema, I know when something is
troubling you. I've known you since you were a little child. I
practically raised you all by myself. Tell me what it is so I can help
you."
In a somewhat pouty manner, Astronema told him
nothing was wrong and that she'd like to be left alone; he accepted and
began to leave but first told her the Rangers were on Earth at a movie theater
and asked if he should send the Horror Bull to attack them;
Astronema told him to take no action until she gave the order, and he
agreed.
On the tray was what may have been a lobster.
Once Ecliptor had
left, Astronema eagerly got up and went to a mirror, where she sprayed
herself with perfume, then parted her bangs and smiled; she then
teleported with determination.
As the six teens left
the movie theater, Zhane hung behind the others, deep in thought;
Astronema, in her battle gear, was pleased as she watched him from
around a corner.
Astronema then ducked behind the wall and morphed
herself with purple sparkles into a beautiful teenager form which would
eventually be shown to be Karone's true form;
as such, her actions in this teenager form will have her named Karone, even though she was still Astronema
(albeit a love-stricken Astronema) inside.
Karone had chin-length
straight blonde hair, and she wore casual clothes, as well as her locket
around her neck.
As Zhane turned to walk
away after dreamily staring at the poster for Star Crossed Lovers, he
collided with Karone, who was now carrying a
purse and books, dropping her books all over the sidewalk.
Zhane apologized and
helped her pick up her books.
Shyly picking up her books as well, she said she
was so clumsy, and he said it was totally his fault.
The two bumped heads while picking up the books.
Looking at her, Zhane was
in awe, and when she asked, "What?" he said he'd thought he was someone
else.
Karone adjusted her
pursestrap and necklace before he helped her up.
Smiling and awestruck, Zhane said he had to catch up with his friends and
said "see you," then trotted off.
Happy, Karone then found
something folded-up which he'd dropped, but he didn't hear her calling
after him to tell him; disheartened, Karone
looked at it and found that it was a photo of her as Astronema, making
her gasp and grin as she walked off.
As Zhane joined the teens, purple energy bolts from behind struck
nearby, sending people running and the teens
ducking behind things.
While everyone was distracted, a red arrow with a
note on it shot into the tree Zhane was hiding
behind.
As Zhane pulled out the
arrow and read the note, Astronema, back in normal form, watched from a
bush holding what looked just like Archerina's bow.
On a pink piece of paper bordered with hearts and
fern leaves was the note: "Meet me by the campfire at five o'clock. -
Astronema," with a bright red lipstick kiss on it and a new photo of
herself attached.
In the photo, she was now smiling over her
shoulder, not wearing her battle gear.
As Zhane gasped and
looked at his watch after reading the note, Astronema cooed happily and
ducked behind a bush.
On the Dark
Fortress, Ecliptor prepared another Horror Bull and told Elgar to inform Astronema that they were ready to
attack, but Elgar found that she wasn't in her
room; confused, Ecliptor was sure she would
want them to proceed with the plan, and despite Elgar's uncertainty, he had Horror Bull attack.
At the same campsite from before, some time
before five, Astronema, in her suit but without her battle gear, was
lying on a blanket with an extravegant picnic setup prepared, and she
lit the candles.
As time passed, Astronema grew increasingly
annoyed as the candles burned down.
Forlorn, Astronema was later sitting and
fidgeting with the ground when morphed Zhane
rode up on his Silver Cycle.
Zhane waved "hey," and
Astronema stood up with a wicked smirk; when he leapt off the bike and
demorphed with a bouquet of
roses, she amusedly blasted the roses with a purple energy bolt from her
finger, as well as more around him, and she chuckled girlishly as he
stood back up, completely fried and covered with mud.
Zhane protested that
those had been long-stem roses, and Astronema shouted, "Nobody stands me
up, buddy!!"; she turned as though to leave from disgust, but as he told
her he hadn't stood her up, she paced and grumbled that he was late.
Zhane argued that he
wouldn't have been late if she hadn't sent any monsters, but with exasperation, she yelled
that she hadn't sent any monsters and
blasted at him again.
Zhane asked if they could
talk about this, but, hurt, Astronema said there was nothing to talk
about and that she never wanted to see him again, and she teleported
away as Zhane was crushed.
Later, at her mirror in her room, Astronema
looked at Zhane's photo and angrily crumpled it,
then paused and opened it again, slowly looking aside and smiling.
After receiving a report from the disguised Darkonda on the Rebels' temporary home, Centaur B, Dark Specter spoke with Astronema from the
viewscreen, telling her the Red
and SilverRangers remained on the planet's surface and
that she must destroy them.
Astronema was concerned to hear of the Silver Ranger, but when Ecliptor asked whether he should launch the
attack, Astronema gave the order to destroy them, then went to her room.
Sitting at her strategy table, Astronema sadly
slipped Zhane's picture out from beneath the
table.
Dark Specter told
Astronema she must destroy the Rangers so
he could complete the transfer of powers from Zordon; she evilly told Ecliptor to set a course for Earth.
In section 4-C of a top secret laboratory
somewhere, Quantrons stood in the control
room as the scientists were all unconscious; Lizwizard sucked up information
from both the scientists and the computers through his long tongue,
which was plugged into an interface port using a printer cable-like plug
at the end of his tongue.
On the Dark
Fortress, Lizwizard
uploaded all of the top secret data to a monitor kiosk in Astronema's
room; Astronema was pleased that Lizwizard could now build the
"grand weapon" and she could control the Earth.
Lizwizard said they were missing a
key piece of information, and Astronema angrily said she was running out
of patience; Lizwizard then
returned to Earth and stalked Professor Phenomenus, whose name he knew and
whom he said was just the genius he needed.
In her room days after Lizwizard had retreated from Adam and morphed Carlos,
Astronema told Lizwizard he'd
failed her once too many times, but Lizwizard begged for another
chance; she didn't think so and took her staff from Elgar.
As the two Black Rangers clasped hands after defeating Lizwizard, Astronema watched on
the viewscreen and exclaimed, "Two Black Rangers?!" before having the Satellasers fired.
Just as Andros had
awakened from a nightmare of Karone's
kidnapping and was looking at the two childhood photos on his
nightstand, Astronema was in her room on the Dark Fortress looking at the two pictures
inside her locket, later revealed to be photos of Andros and Karone as
children.
Astronema now had long, bright blue hair.
Ecliptor entered and
told Astronema the Batarax was
ready to attack Earth upon her command but
sensed something was troubling her.
Astronema asked Ecliptor to tell her again where he'd found her;
he replied that she'd been left on his doorstep as a little girl, and
he'd taken care of her as his own daughter ever since.
When asked about her family, Ecliptor replied that her parents and brother
had both been destroyed by the Power Rangers;
she told him he was the only one she'd ever trusted, then looked out the
window and said softly that something told her that her brother was
alive.
Ecliptor told
Astronema not to be distracted, as she was the princess of evil; she sat in her command seat, gave a quick
frustrated sigh, perhaps annoyed with herself, then agreed in an evil
voice and ordered to attack Earth.
As the Rangers
fought Batarax in a plaza the
next day, Quantrons stormed in, and
Astronema (in gear) and Ecliptor watched the
fight, pleased.
Astronema appeared to be watching Red Ranger in particular.
Astronema suddenly noticed with concern as a Quantron threatened a terrified mother and her
two young children, Andrew and Karen; as they tried to rush away from
the Quantrons, the girl, holding a large
stuffed animal, fell behind, and her brother stopped to help.
As Astronema watched, troubled, Red Ranger rushed through the Quantrons and defended the family; a Quantron ran in to strike with its blade, and
Red Ranger covered the family
to protect them, but a purple energy bolt from Astronema's staff stopped the Quantron dead in its tracks, making it fall
backward stiffly, its back apparently sizzling.
Red
Ranger and Ecliptor were both puzzled;
shocked herself, Astronema took a step back, and Red Ranger had the family run.
When Red
Ranger soon returned after a fight in the forest with Darkonda, Astronema blasted him in the back,
planning to take out a Ranger herself,
then proceeded to fight Red
Ranger personally, wielding her staff against his Spiral Saber.
Astronema fought well, using strong kicks at
times.
During the intense fight, Red Ranger spun around with a
slash that missed Astronema's neck by no more than an inch, tearing the
locket from her neck, and making her shout in protest and clutch her
neck in panic.
Althought the
locket's chain was broken in the slash, it was immediately connected
again upon landing.
The locket caught itself on a steel bar in a slab
of broken concrete nearby; Astronema casually shoved the confused Red Ranger aside to go after it,
but the other four Rangers blocked her
path; surrounded as the Quantrons retreated
and Batarax was barely able to
stand up, Astronema angrily held up her staff and called for the Satellasers to be fired,
enlarging Batarax.
Red
Ranger wanted to finish the fight with Astronema, but she teleported
away as he attacked.
As Andros picked up the
locket, Astronema (in gear) shouted for him not to touch it.
As Astronema walked forward, Andros, watching her, confidently clicked open the
locket and saw two pictures of young Andros and
Karone.
Shocked, Andros asked
where she'd gotten it, but she snatched it from him and said she'd
always had it; as she inspected it, he asked himself if it was possible
she could be Karone.
Astronema turned toward him, still angry, but was
startled when he opened his locket and said he'd always had his as well.
Andros approached her,
telling her with awe that she was his sister Karone; initially defensive, she was a bit stunned
and confused to hear the mention of her original name, but she regained
her defenses when he came closer.
Upset, Astronema
accused Andros of destroying her parents and
her brother; she pulled away, his hand having been holding her elbow,
and he told her sadly, "No, listen to me. I am your brother," but in
Astronema's flashback in 627-AsTT, she would
recall Andros having shaken her and shouted,
"Now listen to me, I am your brother!"
Astronema thought for a moment, clutching her
locket, but then slyly told him it was a nice try but his tricks
wouldn't work on her, and she teleported away, paining him.
Afterward, Darkonda
talked to a Dark Specter hologram in a
cavern, telling him that Red
Ranger knew the truth and that it was only a matter of time before
Astronema knew as well, meaning she might stray.
Dark Specter argued
that she would never stray, as his power over her was too strong; Darkonda bowed and agreed that his power was
without parallel, but feared Ecliptor had
tarnished Astronema's evil spirit.
Darkonda elaborated,
"You see, he has shown her caring. Caring and evil do not mix. It could be an explosive
combination!"; Dark Specter hoped that Darkonda was wrong.
Back on the Dark
Fortress, Astronema was furious over the notion that Red Ranger would claim to be her
brother, and Ecliptor agreed that it was
obviously a cruel trick; she planned to make him pay dearly.
Ashley warned Andros that his sister might not have any good
left in her, but Andros insisted somewhere
inside Astronema was Karone and that he just
had to figure out how to reach her.
On KO-35 the next day,
Astronema walked through a city courtyard, looking around curiously and
hearing children's giggles in her memory; she then recalled a woman's
voice, perhaps her mother, calling, "Karone...
dinner will be ready soon!"
Astronema remembered Andros looking at her locket, then him telling her
she was his sister Karone; she looked at the
open locket in her hand and recalled the motherly voice calling out, "Karone, it's starting to get dark. You kids
better come in now!"
Once Astronema had wandered into a park area, she
remembered a woman's voice sounding just like DECA (perhaps the same as the previous voices, but
more like DECA than before) saying, "Now go on
and play with your brother," and she and Andros
had played as kids with the hovering sphere.
Astronema remembered being kidnapped by Darkonda, then while she was remembering young
Andros calling out for her, Andros in present day called her Karone, saying she remembered; she threatened him
with her staff with
skepticism, but he told her she'd come there because she remembered her
last day as Karone, when Darkonda had kidnapped her.
With a sudden change of heart after remembering
her kidnapping again, Astronema blasted at Andros with her staff repeatedly, then was gone.
A short while later, after taking another of Darkonda's lives, Ecliptor stormed onto the Dark Fortress and, bringing urgent news,
went to Astronema's room where she lay on the bed.
Rising, Astronema interrupted, asking why he
hadn't told her about her brother; Ecliptor
thoughtfully explained that although they were both evil, they were very different.
Ecliptor said he had
been built evil, every cubic centimeter of him; she, on the other hand,
had been born, born to be good, and it had only been after years under
his supervision that she had risen to become evil; thus, he had feared that if she'd known the
truth, she would become good again.
When asked if she would become good again,
Astronema said she was confused.
Outraged by Darkonda,
Astronema was angry at herself for not listening to Ecliptor's warnings about him.
Knowing Dark
Specter would test her loyalty, Astronema planned to pass with
flying colors, saying, "Evil is what I am, and evil is what he'll get.";
she then told the needle
monster she'd summoned to destroy the Red Ranger.
Andros was looking
through the courtyard calling out for Karone
when the needle monster
attacked him; he fought without morphing but did poorly and was
flipped.
When Andros brought up
his arm to morph, the monster hit
his arm, sending the Morpher flying;
nearby, Astronema (with gear) watched with pleasure as Andros did poorly, and she then picked up his Morpher and smiled.
As Andros continued to
lose but kept fighting, Astronema ducked behind a wall and watched with
concern; as the monster stepped on Andros's
chest, Astronema remembered him telling her she was his sister Karone, then him shaking her and shouting that he
was her brother.
Astronema softly spoke Andros's name and tossed him the Morpher, then walked away; surprised, Andros called after her, calling her Astronema and
then Karone, but she continued walking as she
looked back.
After morphing, Andros again called out for his sister, this time
calling her Karone and then Astronema, but she
was gone.
Somewhere atop a rocky peak after the needle monster's destruction,
Astronema (in gear) stood as a giant Dark
Specter image spoke with her from billowing white and gray clouds in
a blue sky.
Dark Specter told
Astronema that her knowing about her past must not change her future, as
she was the princess of darkness; she evilly told him she would not
stray from evil.
Saying it was time for her to prove her loyalty,
Dark Specter ordered Astronema to destroy
her brother, the Red Ranger;
she thought for a moment, then said evilly that she would destroy her
brother as he wished.
Soon, Astronema sent a secret message to the Megaship in KO-35
orbit; Astronema (in gear), in a cavern, looked around in worry and then
quietly told Andros to meet her on KO-35, as she had to speak to him alone.
On KO-35, Andros was in the plaza when he spotted Astronema
(in gear) looking around innocently, and he soon went to "Karone" after hiding for a moment.
Andros assumed Astronema
remembered who she was, but she sadly told him she didn't know who she
was right now.
Andros told Astronema
that when they had been children, they'd dreamed about being Power Rangers; the Astronema persona, he argued,
had been forced upon her.
Despite not remembering much, and despite the
danger of Dark Specter's wrath, Astronema
offered to take the Rangers to Zordon, allying herself with the forces of good; as such, her actions in this state are listed
under "Karone" despite her retaining the
Astronema appearance.
Talking with the teens
on the Megaship, Astronema denied having
helped kidnap Zordon.
To reprogram Dark
Specter's asteroid, Karone sneaked onto the
Dark Fortress while radioing the Megaship with an earpiece microphone; she
was in the form of Astronema again, but without the extravagent makeup,
and with short, straight, bright red hair the same length and style as
her Karone hair.
Astronema had made it onboard and then headed to
the main control room, where she viewed the asteroid's trajectory on the
viewing screen.
Ecliptor, with silver
cyborg modifications all over his body, found Astronema and approached
her; Astronema was initially relieved that it was Ecliptor, but as he said he was better than
ever, she noticed his new form.
When Astronema asked with concern what they'd
done to him, Ecliptor replied while
approaching her, "The same as will be done to you, my princess," and as
her headset fell to the floor, she screamed in protest; with this, the
teens lost contact with Karone.
After the asteroid had been redirected by the Megazords, DECA soon
announced that the Dark Fortress had been
located in quadrant 446.7 behind the planet Vraden; in a monitor, the Dark Fortress, whole rather than half green
lines, descended near the jagged surface of a rocky gray world.
After sneaking aboard the Dark Fortress, Andros and Zhane entered
the control room and found Astronema sitting
in her strategy seat in her quarters.
As they removed their helmets on their Quantron disguises, Andros talked to Karone,
but she didn't respond; instead, she turned to them blankly with
circuitry along the right side of her face, and her suit had been
modified for a more mechanical look; she still wore her locket.
Astronema's face was pale, and with a calm, evil
smirk, she told Ecliptor to get them.
As Zhane struggled with
Ecliptor, Andros
told Karone he was her brother, but she blankly
replied that she was Astronema.
Zhane convinced Andros that they had to go, as Astronema had been
brainwashed, and Andros angrily left with Zhane while Astronema watched unmoved.
As Bulk, Skull, and the Professor wandered through the desert after crashing a stolen rocket, Frightwing leapt in and
confronted the three, telling them that Astronema had sent him to
destroy them once and for all; he then chased them, calling them Power Rangers.
After Frightwing's destruction,
Astronema stood coldly looking at the viewscreen as Darkonda told her the Silver Ranger and his Mega Winger had tipped the battle in favor of
the Rangers, and he said they needed more
strength.
Astronema questioned Darkonda's use of the word "we," telling him
that she was the princess of darkness and he was an outcast; she told Ecliptor to throw him out, and Ecliptor grabbed him.
Outraged, Darkonda
said that without him she'd be destroyed, but Astronema aimed her
newly-modified staff at him.
Darkonda reminded
Astronema that he still had a few lives left, but she had only one, then
warped away.
On the Megaship,
Andros looked at a display of the circuitry on
Karone's head as DECA
told him Karone's emotions had been overridden
by computer programming; Karone was still
inside Astronema, but she was no longer in control.
As a TV reporter
stood ready to interview a witness after a building in the Warehouse District had been
attacked by an unknown force, the Psycho
Rangers walked up, looking almost identical to the Space Rangers; once the real Rangers had arrived after the Psychos had scared away the news crew, the
Psychos fought them for a while before
revealing their Psycho Ranger forms.
Astronema said soon they would know the Rangers inside and out, knowing their
thoughts and predicting their next moves.
Astronema told the Psychos to find the Rangers and not to come back until they were
destroyed; as they left, Astronema remarked that the Rangers had finally met their match.
As the Psycho
Rangers fried the Rangers with energy
bolts after completely pounding them outside the old library, they all
suddenly clutched their heads in agony and shimmered away.
On the Dark
Fortress, the Psychos stormed in to
confront Astronema, with Psycho Red
shoving a Quantron aside; they wanted to
know why she'd stopped them from destroying the Rangers, and she replied that they would
finish them when she decided.
When Psycho Blue
asked impudently when that would be, she turned and shocked Blue, Red,
and Yellow (the front three Psychos) with a purple energy bolt from her
circuit-covered hand.
Astronema told the Psychos to remember their place, as she
would tell them as much as she decided; she then ordered them to leave,
and as the growling, stunned Psychos
left, Psycho Red replied, "As you
wish... for now!"
Intrigued as Astronema went into her room and sat
to think, Ecliptor asked her to tell him her
plan so he could assist her; evilly pleased, she told him that the Psychos' magnificent power was coming from
Dark Specter himself; they would destroy
the Rangers, but slowly, so she could
drain Dark Specter away to nothing.
Ecliptor was
astonished that Astronema wanted to destroy both the Rangers and Dark
Specter, but she evilly said that there was only room for one evil monarch, and that would be her.
Datascammer had been sent to Earth by Astronema; he scanned the five Rangers in a flash before retreating.
With the Psychos
standing near her on the Dark Fortress,
Astronema noted that the information Datascammer had collected would
be useful.
Psycho Red and Psycho Black argued over who should go,
with Psycho Red thinking he could handle
them without the information database, but Astronema told them they
